| The History October of 2007: The idea of an "alternative tango event" in the outskirts of Berlin was born between Gaia & Pablo. Soon after they asked Thomas to join, and our first visit on the Ponderosa Ranch on December 22nd, 2007, looked like this:
* icy cold * ... and this:
* Main Hall "under construction" *
Even though
the location was much affected by winter (aka off-)season, we were very
enchanted by our hosts Stefanie & Uli & kids & cats, as well
as the potential of the space.
* sunny camp-site * ... and:
* Main Hall "construction completed" *
Our 1st "Ponderosa Tango Experience" in the Summer of 2008 was a complete & beautiful success, it turned out to be what we had envisioned in the Fall of 2007. The 2nd edition in the Summer of 2009 was even more exciting; take a look at a beautiful book by Ishka Michocka, a professional photographer and tango addict who documented the 2009 event. We are looking forward to many years to come ...
The Idea behind it Our goal is to create a relaxed moment in time where Tango can just live in it's essential form. We want to dance lot's, share ideas, learn new concepts, hang out, meet new people from around the world, and have fun. The set-up is basic, no five star hotel, but a very-well-taken-care-of site with great organic food, beautifully manufactured shared-sleeping-quarters (Japanese style), a pretty camp-site, lakes nearby, no civilization-noise, land and sky and light. Every year we invite three professional Teaching-couples to share their experience and understanding of Tango with us. The relation to the teachers is immediate, they are well accessible throughout the event. We want to inspire the participants to work on their individual Tango in whichever form is appropriate for each one, related to the stage of their Tango development. There is a lot of time and space for individual training. Private lessons can be booked. And above all, the Workshops of each year stand under the star of one general topic, which we suggest to be the focus of attention for those five days. This years focus is "Walking in Tango", obviously one of the most essential thing in Tango. We are looking forward to meeting you on this years' summer-Tango-journey.
